Clear Skin Smoothie

Get rid of your acne creams and cleansers and start drinking this Clear Skin Smoothie.

What your skin really needs is fruits, vegetables, and powerful supplements. The skin is our largest organ and it needs nutrients to cleanse and heal just like rest of our organs.

This Clear Skin Smoothie recipe combines vital nutrients that will feed your skin and clear your acne. Smoothies work best because ingredients that are blended are more bioavailable than those that we chew, meaning we will extract more of essential nutrients and absorb them quickly into the bloodstream.

Here’s what your skin will love:

Aloe Vera – Improves complexion and skin tone and reduces acne causing inflammation

Avocado – Filled with healthy fats and phytonutrients, avocado can soothe deep inflammation. Avocado is also high in linoleic acid, which also works against acne because of its anti-inflammatory and hydrating properties. Avocados are also a good source of fiber, which helps the body flush out toxins that may otherwise lead to break outs

Blueberries – In addition to supreme antioxidant powers, blueberries are a great source of pectin. Pectin clears out intestinal toxins that lead to breakouts. Blueberries are a good source of vitamin E in comparison to most berries!

Camu Camu – This superfood is so high in vitamin C, that it is the most potent source of vitamin C on earth! Taken on a regular basis, this can lead to transformation effects on your skin. Camu Camu is great for healing the skin and reducing existing acne scars and blemishes.

Coconut Oil – Rich in lauric acid, which is known to prevent acne at the core. Lauric Acid is a potent treatment for severe cases of cystic acne, because it is anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, and anti-viral.

Coconut Water – The body needs water to efficiently remove metabolic waste that leads to acne. Water keeps the pores hydrated and better able to filter out toxins, while coconut water cleanses and tones the skin!

Goji Berry Powder – This super berry is high in anti-oxidants that break down toxins and skin damaging free radicals. Goji’s strength is in regenerating and soothing acne damaged skin.

Hemp Protein – Hempseed is rich in protein and Omega fatty acids that are both needed for great skin! The fatty acids in hemp help skin to heal and regenerate, while hemp is also anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory, which can decrease the spread of breakouts.

Maqui Berry Powder – Maqui berries contain more anti-oxidants than any other discovered food on earth, including high levels of polyphenols, which are a potent antioxidant that specifically decrease oxidative stress which contributes to acne. Maqui also contains anti-inflammatory compounds which decrease acne outbreaks and incease collagen production.

After being diagnosed with cancer when she was 32, Elissa Goodman explored holistic alternatives and combined them with traditional treatments and was able to beat the disease. Her husband wasn’t as fortunate; he succumbed to Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma when he was only 45 after a regimen of doctor-prescribed chemotherapy and two bone marrow transplants. Her personal experience led her to realize the many ways in which nutrition and lifestyle affect our ability to deal with health challenges.
