It’s hard to forget that St. Patrick’s Day is this weekend, with all the local bars getting their advertisements waving. For those of you who will be enjoying this festive holiday from home and perhaps sharing a pint with some friends, I have the perfect appetizer. You may know that I am a hummus fanatic, and making a homemade batch is my go-to action whenever I host guests for dinner or my girls are looking for an after-school snack. Last night I whipped up this sweet pea hummus from the beautifully done Everyday Raw Detox and as I am just munching on it with some raw carrots, I realized how appropriate my timing was. I love the idea of subbing sweet green peas for chickpeas to switch up your typical hummus experience. It brings a new and interesting flair to this staple and peas are loaded with health benefits. They are loaded with anti-oxidants, will cut down on inflammation and are a great source of protein. Plus they support blood sugar regulation and will keep your heart healthy.
This is a simple and delicious treat you can enjoy with any freshly cut veggies- and a great way to sport that Irish green without chemical-laden food dye. Enjoy your weekend and may the luck of the Irish be with you!
Process all ingredients in a food processor until smooth. As water if needed to make a smooth consistency.

Her husband wasn’t as fortunate; he succumbed to Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma when he was only 45 after a regimen of doctor-prescribed chemotherapy and two bone marrow transplants. Her personal experience led her to realize the many ways in which nutrition and lifestyle affect our ability to deal with health challenges.
